"In the grip of World War II, Maria has realized that her Nazi-occupied Ukrainian town is no longer safe. Though she and her family might survive, her friend Nathan, who is Jewish, is in grave danger. So Maria and Nathan flee -- into the heart of Hitler's Reich in Austria. There, they hope to hide in plain sight by blending in with other foreign workers. But their plans are disrupted when they are separated, sent to work in different towns. With no way to communicate with Nathan, how can Maria keep him safe? And will they be able to escape Hitler's web of destruction?"
What I Thought:
As I am a big fan of Marsha Skrypuch, I was waiting to read this book. It was not available at NLB or my school library, so it waited on my to-read list... I'm especially interested in the World War II time period, just because even though it was a very sad and unimaginable thing that took place, it is also a really interesting one and there's lot to learn from it. The story itself was also very different and riveting. I also liked this book for the fact that it was the companion novel of "Don't Tell The Nazis". Trapped in Hitler's Web tells the story of Maria, whereas in Don't Tell The Nazis, it tells the story of her sister Krystia. A must-read if you are into reading books about this period of history...
