The Trouble with Twins

by: Kathryn Siebel

Recommendation for Age: 8-12 years old

There were two twins. Henrietta and Arabella. Arabella was always a bit prettier, had better hair, given more attention and DEFINITELY more popular. She was always invited to the best birthday parties while, well Henrietta was not. Even Rose, their nanny, turned Arabella's hair into something magnificent each day. She spent so much time on Arabella's hair that she didn't have time to do Henrietta. Henrietta was a lot quieter, and mostly alone. After a big fight, to get revenge on Arabella, Henrietta decides to do something awful to her. When they find out what she did, Henrietta is sent away to live -- her parents' were completely overreacting -- with Mr. Osgood's (their father) aunt, Priscilla Renfrew in a neighbouring town. Aunt Priscilla's house was dark, and gloomy filled with cats. For meals, cold and yucky soup was served...and Henrietta had to cook it! (Definitely not appetising!) The twins were not meant to be apart as both of them missed their other half. Unsure of when they will be together again, after only a few days with 1 kid in the Osgood's house, miserable Arabella goes on a journey to be reunited with her other half...

What I Thought About The Book:

My friend had been recommending this book for a long time, so for the Winter Break holiday, I decided to check it out. I was constantly reading and reading. It was really amazing to see their connection through their dreams... I also felt it was a brave journey for a kid to take -- on their own -- just to see their sibling. I really liked this book and in the format in which it was told and written. The mother narrated their story to her kids, so the reader had some other opinion outside of the story -- that would sometimes make you think differently -- and some interesting questions and answers! You should read this book for sure!!
