Sugar is about a 10 year old girl who lives and works on a Sugar Plantation in Mississippi (River Road to be precise.) She lives in a shack where there is a fabric roof that is not sturdy at all and sand for the floor.


When their white owner, Mister Wills, announces that he is hiring a few "Chinamen", they get worried. But when Sugar manages to make friends with Beau and Billy, what can be better?
