Annemarie and Ellen, 10 year old best friends, live in the capital city of Denmark, Copenhagen during the time of WW2 (WORLD WAR II) and Hitler, Adolf Hitler. Things are very scary with soldiers on every corner of Copenhagen, curfews and food shortages. (Sugar was rare, "Tea/Coffee" were just water with herbal leaves) . And mostly, the kidnapping of Jews and sometimes killing! Taking on a dangerous mission for Ellen and all the Jews as Ellen was one. Read this Newbery Award book to gain bravery and knowledge about the WW2 and Hitler!
