Me & Mom vs. the World

by: Jo Whittemore

Victoria Porter has one of the most fun mom's in the world, and she thinks so too. What mom would let you play hide-n-seek in a graveyard or hang to a duct vent for a perfect hiding spot? Or put ice cream in the bathtub for the world's largest sundae? But due to her mom's poor financial decisions, Tori and her mom (who also is her best friend) are in risk of losing their shop and home.(which is on top of the shop) But when Great Aunt Muriel dies (?) in her last will, she arranges a contest for her family members to compete in to win Archibald Manor. (She left her land to her horse, Charity, because Charity didn't bore Muriel with the drama of her life!) The contest: to live in Archibald Manor for 2 weeks and live without modern day conveniences (running water, technology, washer dryer and stove) and you must live like in colonial times in 1680. How will their relationship hold, and who will win Archibald Manor?

What I thought about the book:

It was a light and funny read, read it in about 2 hours. (Slept at 1am that night!) It was fun to see how people in the 21st century would live in the 17th century... while wearing dirty clothes and with family competitiveness.
