It's the first day of Fifth Grade; everyone is scared, with worries filling their heads. "What if I don't make friends? What if I get sick? What if I don't make friends" and the most common worry, WHAT IF I GET A MEAN TEACHER? For this Fifth Grade class, they don't have to worry, they have Mr. Terupt!
Mr. Terupt is not your usual teacher. His assignments are almost unheard of for Fifth Grade. He once asked his students to count how many blades their school field has. EXACTLY 77,537,412! He is nice and has the most awesome challenges!
In this novel, you get to see what being in Mr. Terupt's class is like through the eyes of 7 totally different students. Alexia (a bully one second, your friend the other), Peter, (class prankster and school trouble-maker) Danielle (who never stands up for herself), Anna (shy but an observer), Jessica (the new girl, smart and a born writer), Luke (the brain), and Jeffrey (who hates school)
My Thoughts
This book let me be apart of Mr. Terupt's class. It had a way of including you and knowing Mr. Terupt as if he was your own teacher. I read this book in 1.5 days, that shows a sign. I finished the trilogy in 3 days spending over more than hours from 10pm - 1.45am at night, starting and finishing the second book, Mr. Terupt Falls Again.
See how one accident changed Alexia, Anna, Jessica, Danielle, Luke, Jeffrey and Peter's (who kind of caused the accident) lives. How they put aside their differences and really made friends. How it changed personalities and people. How they loved this teacher so much, that they would not let him lay there, in his sleep, not knowing how much they had changed... all Because of Mr. Terupt.
Because of Mr. Terupt is a E. B. White Read Aloud Honor Book and a Cybils Honor Book.
Yes!
This was such a good book. Have you read the whole "series"?
