This year, on June 12th 2023, we celebrate four years of Aadya Reads.
In the four years it has been running, I have reviewed roughly 135 books. Out of the 135 books/series reviewed, there have been a variety of genres. Those include, realistic-, historical-, non-, science-, dystopian-fiction, humour, and fantasy!
How Aadya Reads Came to Be
While this is on the About page, many of you may not know the origin story:
Aadya Reads was created on June 12, 2019. The idea formed back in 2019 as I wandered the halls of my elementary school, which was hosting the annual festival of reading. The walls of each classroom were plastered with book recommended by students themselves. In the past, it had been very hard to find a decent book to read. I spent hours in the school library, scavenging for a good book that would hold my attention and excitement. My mom tried to help by sending me emails filled with lists of classics, like books that had won the Newbery or Coretta Scott King awards. They were acclaimed but because the lists were compiled by adults, they weren't exactly books that kids enjoyed reading and caused a lot of kids my age to despise reading. That summer, I decided that I wanted to make finding books fun and easy, instead of something to dread. With this simple goal in mind, Aadya Reads was created!
In an effort to see interests and what kinds of books I should post next, please comment on this post!
Thank you to everyone who has supported and shown interest in Aadya Reads since day one!
